18k gold Waffle Bangle with various stones

Joan's Personal Message

headshot
This Fall, as nature puts on one of her more beautiful shows of color, I’m unveiling our new Gold Rush Collection—a reflection of the vibrant earth tones, warm neutrals, bright yellows, deep reds, and of course the rich golds within the Fall color palette. My 18k gold Alexandra Cuff has been selected for the International Designer Showcase for Fashion Week in Paris. I’ll also be bringing gold pieces into my Trunk Show at Bergdorf Goodman in New York from October 6-9th. It is clear that gold glistens this season.

Today, gold is more prized than it’s been since I began my jewelry line. But, as the cost of gold rises, I’ve made a conscious decision not to re-price the jewelry I’ve already committed to bringing into the stores this season. Instead, I choose to pass its value on to the purchasers so that they can further realize the jewelry’s mission—that giving is as good as gold.

The pieces within the new Gold Rush Collection are layered with gemstones that magnify the rich gold that lies beneath—a metaphor for my belief that the need for giving has never been greater—or clearer—for that matter. My call to action is to join our “gold rush” to mine what is obviously and inherently valuable: joining forces to support charities.

Warmest Regards,

Fall for Gold this Season with the Gold Rush Collection
With 18k gold as its foundation, the Gold Rush Collection is infused with whiskey topaz, white topaz, citrines, and garnets. The brown, golden, orange, and red colors of the stones compliment the hues of Fall and add a glow to all complexions and skin tones. This season, we make it easy for you to Fall in love with gold.

hamptonsThe gold nuggets within the Hamptons Necklace, (18k gold with whiskeytopaz), are sculptural but not ostentatious. Its warm neutral tonescompliment any daytime look while the whiskey and white topaz gemstones add a beautiful touch of evening glamour. Multi- dimensional in its appearance, the Hamptons Necklace lies flatly and gracefully around the neck. And the 18k gold links and toggle add an additional adjustable feature making the necklace versatile in length as it is in elegance.

hamptonsThe golds in the Demi Together Earrings (18k gold with white topaz) are a perfect compliment to the Hamptons Necklace. But they also stand out on their own as statement pieces when worn individually. The raw beauty of the white topaz gemstones beautifully catch the light with various reflections from all directions.

Joan Hornig Selected for Paris Fashion Week's International Designer Showcase

Alexandra Cuff and Arabian Night Lapis Necklace

Joan Hornig is among twenty notable jewelry designers from around the world selected for the International Designer Showcase during Fashion Week in Paris. Two of Joan’s creations, the 18k gold Alexandra Cuff with various gemstones and the Arabian Night Necklace, 18k gold with lapis and citrines, will be the shining stars on view in Paris this Fall.

The “Arabian Night” necklace is named for its signature deep blue lapis gemstones with golden inclusions of pyrites that shimmer like little stars. In designing the necklace, Joan hand-selected lapis because of its rich history and its poignant reminder of Afghanistan, the stone’s primary source for the past 6,000 years. These deep blue stones were a favorite in ancient Egyptian jewelry. In true royal fashion, Cleopatra also used powdered lapis as eyeshadow. But the connection to Afghanistan is the most compelling and timely as it reminds us to continue to support our troops overseas.

Who Is A Philanthropist?

Philanthropy is contagious. Joan was so impressed with the young women that started Circle of Women, an organization dedicated to building schools for girls in developing countries, she specially designed a necklace, inspired by the group’s logo, to raise funds for their continued work. Here, Clotilde Dedecker, Circle of Women co-founder, tells us what philanthropy means to her. She is pictured wearing the sterling silver and onyx Circle Women Necklace—a true model philanthropist!

Clotilde DedeckerPhilanthropy is giving of yourself so that others can feel empowered to give of themselves. The members of Circle of Women are proud philanthropists who give their support, creativity, and effort so that young women around the world can receive an education and in turn give of themselves, however they choose to do so. My favorite part of this cyclical equation is that every Circle of Women member is under 25. You might say we're in the business of making every young woman a philanthropist.
